The iPhone 5 (parody) Gets 795% Taller

In line with the release of Apple’s iPhone 5, Seattle-based comedy video makers Satire Channel  created a parody commercial that pokes fun at the phone's longer screen.

The video entitled ‘The iPhone 5 (Parody): A Taller Change Than Expected’, ridiculously-reimagines the iPhone 5 getting a 795% taller screen as an increased display size.

Apple sells over 5 million iPhone 5, supply constraints loom

Apple Inc sold over 5 million iPhone 5 smartphones in the three days since it hit stores, but shares sagged as the company struggled to meet demand.
While sales were solid, the company said on Monday it had run out of its initial supply and many pre-orders were scheduled to go out in October.
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said the company is "working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone."
Expectations for new Apple products were so high - some analysts forecast Apple selling as many as 10 million phone over the weekend - that Wall Street was not wowed by the latest numbers. The stock was down 1.7 percent at $688.64 in afternoon trade.
Given the demand, Apple, the world's most valuable company, is being closely watched for any supplier problems that may slow down the smartphone production.

Data speeds: iPhone 5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 4S

LTE data speeds on the iPhone 5 will slaughter the 3G speeds you got on the iPhone 4S. CNET tests the handsets with the Samsung Galaxy S3 to show you how much better.

Though its thinner profile and longer screen are two of the iPhone 5's top draws, I'm more interested in what's inside Apple's newest handset. Yes, after a long wait, the iPhone 5 finally adds support for 4G LTE data networks. Of course, I have to point out that a galaxy of Android phones (get it!) have long offered the feature, but that doesn't mean I'm not grateful that the iPhone has caught up.

Yet, you don't get the full story of LTE until you compare the iPhone 5 with its immediate predecessor, the iPhone 4S. That device topped out at 3G on all carriers, even if AT&T tried to tell a different story. The difference is striking, both in CNET's anecdotal use and in the official speed tests that we conducted. And to make things interesting, I threw in theSamsung Galaxy S3, which also runs on LTE.

Photography is ever more important in smartphone usage, and a close-up view shows that Sony got the coveted spot supplying the sensor for Apple's new smartphone.
Sony has been on a roll with its camera image sensors, and a close look by ChipWorks shows that the iPhone 5 uses one of its products for the main camera.

iPhone 5 is improved, but still underwhelms: Analysts

WASHINGTON: The new iPhone 5 is on its way to unprecedented commercial success, but the world's most iconic smartphone is facing tougher competition from rivals out-innovating Apple, analysts say.
Apple's newest iPhone, launched on Friday, has a host of design and technology improvements: it is lighter, slimmer, faster and more powerful, and has improved battery life and a bigger display likely to please its loyal customer base.
Yet some analysts say Apple is becoming a victim of its success -- and is limiting any major changes that could alienate its devoted fans.
"Apple is caught in a typical problem when you create a popular technology platform," said technology analyst and consultant Rob Enderle.
"You don't want to change it very much because some of your user base moves off to something else."

What can you say about a device that has been written about as much as the iPhone 5, other than to note that it's finally here and lots of people across the globe seem to want it?
The smartphones, which are thinner, lighter, and faster than previous versions, are due to go on sale at 8 a.m. local time in multiple countries.

Passbook, which went out today inside of iOS 6, is a new application from Apple designed to store membership cards, tickets, coupons, and boarding passes -- a bit like a digital wallet. As an added feature, Passbook does a few things paper and plastic can't, like alert you to changes, and pop up to be readily accessed based on your location.
