Samsung Galaxy S4 First Look

Every once in while we run into the occasional fantastic concept, that’s so well done that it manages to trick some blogs and media sources into writing about it as if it were real. Such is the case of the Samsung Galaxy S4 render below, shown in a video done by Rozetked, a very, very well done clip.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Hands on Video Shows an Excellent Concept (Video)
We’re dealing with a model presented as the Samsung GT-i9500 and packing a 2 GHz quad core processor, a 13 megapixel camera and a 5 inch Full HD screen. The display is an AMOLED edge to edge display and the curves of the handset are more subtle than the ones of the Galaxy S III. This Galaxy S4 model runs Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and it’s a very realistic handset. The futuristic part of the concept is actually the dock with a gesture activated keyboard, that’s actually virtual and projected on a flat surface.
If the real Samsung Galaxy S4 looks anything like this, consider me an instant fan, especially since the smartphone is very thin, looks like and its curved back makes it look like a very fancy mouse seen from the top. And that edge to edge display is so so well done… What do you think about this render? Check out the hands on video below!

Samsung Galaxy S IV rumored to arrive in April with S Pen functionality

samsung_galaxy_s_III_review_sg_7-580x431121
We’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about Samsung‘s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S IV, and we don’t expect it die down anytime soon. The latest rumor fresh out of South Korea is that Samsung is preparing the Galaxy S IV for an April 2013 launch, and it’s said that the new handset will come with S Pen functionality right out of the box.
Multiple Korean sources are saying that the new phone will land in April, and the accompanying S Pen feature hints that Samsung is allegedly looking to bring some of the best features of their Note series to the flagship Galaxy S IV, which wouldn’t be too terribly surprising, even considering how different the two devices are just from the screen size alone.
The alleged April 2013 release windows is right on the money with a previous rumor that we heard at the beginning of the month, saying that Samsung was working on “Project J” that is set for an April 2013 announcement. However, an announcement and an actual release are completely different, so we’re not really sure what to believe at this point.
It’s rumored that the Galaxy S IV will come with a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a quad-core Exynos 5440 chip, a 13-megapixel rear auto-focus camera, and will feature a slightly thicker 9.2mm body, a change that would make the S IV very Note-like this time around, and would explain the S Pen functionality.

HTC Two X Concept - Successor to the One series

Bob Freking latest work HTC Two X, the successor of the One X. The idea Bob had was to combine the kickass camera on the HTC Titan II with ImageSense technology, the screen of the HTC J Butterfly and a quad core processor. The result can be seen below and teased in the video at the end of the article.

HTC Two X, Successor of the One X Borrows From HTC Titan II and J Butterfly (Video)

So what we’re dealing with here is the HTC Two X concept, that packs a 16 megapixel ImageSense camera, a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and a 1080p Super LCD 3 display. Inside is a huge 3000 mAh battery, that would make even the likes of Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX jealous. Also, this model runs “the latest version of Android”, that’s probably Android 4.2 or should be in the near future. The device also has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage and I wonder if this one gets a microSD slot or not.
What I remember about the HTC One X from this spring is that it had some screen problems, a bit of overheating, people complained about its lack of microSD card slot and its microSIM tray was hard to remove. The thing I liked most about it was the camera, that frankly speaking is superior to the one of the Samsung Galaxy S III and Sony Xperia S. Are you ready for the Two X?
[Thanks Bob Freking]

Samsung Galaxy Premier’s specs, price, pics leaked

Samsung is reportedly working on a new Android-powered smartphone called the Galaxy Premier. A report in technology blog MobileGeeks says that the upcoming phone, code named Samsung GT-i9260, will not be the speculated Nexus 4, but an altogether new device.

In Galaxy Premier, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer seems to have stuck to the pebble-esque design which it introduced in its flagship Galaxy S III and then followed in Galaxy Note II and the recently-unveiled Galaxy S III Mini.

The upcoming Galaxy Premier will boast of a 4.65-inch touchscreen with 1280x720 resolution, 1.5GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A-9 processor and will run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) skinned with TouchWiz UI. On the imaging front, the post on MobileGeeks says that the new smartphone will have an 8MP primary camera with LED flash, while the rear camera will have 2MP resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android Jelly Bean update Getting Korea customers

Samsung first announced Android Jelly Bean 4.1 would arrive on Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphones at the announcement of Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Later the company released a chart showing the update process for U.S. carriers, though Korean customers now have the update.

South Korean Galaxy S3 users are getting the update, following European customersThe updates are available over-the-air, via Samsung Kies app and also in the Samsung stores. Company has also posted a guide to help users with the update process.. Smart rotation and camera improvements are features included in the update, with user interface changes probably less apparent due to Touchwiz UI on Samsung's devices. Google's Nexus 7 is the only way to get a stock Android smartphone experience.

The update requires 100MB of free space, so it is a sizeable download. Jelly Bean is the latest major version of Android and is a refinement of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich; headline features include Google Now, the real-time updating service that runs in the background and includes a persistent microphone icon for voice search, providing pictures accompany a Google search.

Samsung launching Galaxy S III Mini on Oct 11?

Samsung Germany has sent invites for an upcoming device being launched on October 11, 2012. The invite says "So big can be small and so small can be big" and "Get ready for a little sensation" in German, with the characteristic 'S' of its flagship Galaxy S series in the background.

This hints that the South Korean manufacturer will probably launch a small device at the event. Speculation is rife that the company will roll out a smaller version of its current flagship, the Galaxy S III, currently being called the Galaxy S III Mini. Rumours say that the smartphone will be powered by Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung's TouchWiz UI and will feature a 4-inch touchscreen and a dual-core processor.

Android phones vulnerable to remote data wipes

Image
Cellphones using Google's Android operating system are at risk of being disabled or wiped clean of their data, including contacts, music and photos, because of a security flaw that was discovered several months ago but went unnoticed until now.

Opening a link to a website or a mobile application embedded with malicious code can trigger an attack capable of destroying the memory card in Android-equipped handsetsmade by Samsung, HTC, Motorola and Sony Ericsson, rendering the devices useless, computer security researcher Ravi Borgaonkar wrote in a blog post Friday. Another code that can erase a user's data by performing a factory reset of the device appears to target only the newly released and top selling Galaxy S III and other Samsung phones, he wrote.

Samsung Android smartphone users are advised to be extra cautious while clicking any links. Security experts have found Samsung smartphones vulnerable to remote attacks, allowing hackers to remotely wipe out all data.
The Internet is abuzz with reports, which claim that a single line of code can wipe all data on certain Samsung smartphones running Google's Android OS.
According to CNET, apart from the Galaxy S III, "the current, yet unofficial, list of devices affected by the potential exploit is said to include the Galaxy Beam, S Advance, Galaxy Ace, and Galaxy S II. Each of these runs a version of Android with Samsung's own TouchWiz user interface."

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 has begun rolling out to handsets in Eastern Europe, signalling a possible arrival to other regions very soon.
According to SamMobile, Galaxy S3 handsets in Poland can now get Jelly Bean via the Kies desktop software or through an over the air (OTA) update.
Apparently Android 4.1 will hit other countries later this month, which means we could see if before the week is out, as October starts on Monday.

Sony Xperia TL Features 4.8 Inch Display, 14 MP Camera

Ben Ling is back at it again, designing Sony Xperia handsets, this time with a model that could easily rival the Samsung Galaxy S III. After all it has the same diagonal size and a quad core CPU. Sony Xperia TL is pictured below and comes with a 4.8 inch Full HD TFT screen with shatter proof protection and also resilience against scratches.
Sony Xperia TL Features 4.8 Inch Display, 14 MP Camera
At the back we find a 14 megapixel camera with LED flash and Exmor R sensor, plus 16 x digital zoom and full HD video recording at 1080p. Xperia TL has a front 2 megapixel camera with 1080p capture as well and inside there’s a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5 GHz processor, that should be more powerful than the Exynos quad on the Galaxy S III. There’s also an Adreno 225 GPU in here, NFC, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. This new Sony Xperia concept measures 7.8 mm, so it’s pretty thin, but not as thin as the Motorola Droid RAZR, at 7.1 mm.
It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and uses Sony technologies like xLOUD and Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2. Finally the specs list is rounded up by a Li-Ion 1910 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microSD card slot. The handset weighs 125 grams and its design is rather strange, since it seems like a much smaller phone than the specs describe. It could end up being very wide…
[Thanks Ben Ling]
