This can result the increasement of sound quality and sound-bugfix for a few handsets. On the other hand, the app volume is dreadly increased from this version. (about 30MB before applying copy protect).
*MicroSD card install is enabled.
Maybe you'll say that I should mention about the update for smaller displays(HVGA). I'm sorry but I can't say anything about that. We always weigh this issue heavily.

Karbonn‘s strategy for Titanium S5 phone

Mobile handset firm Karbonn is targetting to sell over one lakh units of its newly launched quad-core smartphone Titanium S5 by June this year. 

"We hope to sell a few hundred thousand phones of Karbonn Titanium S5 in our first quarter (ending June 2013)," Karbonn Mobiles' Executive Director Shashin Devsare told PTI. 

The month of March has seen a series of announcements of smartphones with quad core processors. This type of processor has four different processors embedded on a single chipset and promises access to around four functions simultaneously. 

Karbonn launched Titanium S5 model, one of lowest price models in quad-core smartphone segment, at Rs 11,990 early this week. The company's announcement followed launch of quad-core phone from its competitor Lava's Xolo for Rs 12,499. 

"The strategy behind the launch of the Titanium S5 Karbonn Mobiles is to position...the cutting-edge features and price bracket of this phone. Also we are aiming to reach 5 million approximately smart phones devices sales with Titanium S5 by the next financial year(2013-14)," Devsare said. 

Early this month, Sony announced launch of its water proof quad-core phone Xperia Z for Rs 38,990. Samsung also has showcased its quad-core smartphone Galaxy S4 but the company is yet to announce launch date and price for the Indian market. 

Karbonn's Titanium S5 has 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, dual-sim to support 3G and 2G connection, 8 megapixel auto focus camera with flash light, a 2MP front camera that can be used for video calling, three external sensors to automatically control functions of the phone.

Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is India’s first 4G phone

Huawei, in partnership withQualcomm and Bharti Airtel, announced Ascend P1 LTE, India's first 4G smartphone. Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 processor, the phone can handle high speed data on the LTE network and voice calls on the underlying 3G network using circuit switched voice fall back (CSFB) technology. 

Huawei, however, has not yet revealed the price and availability of the device. Sources said the company would talk about price and availability within a few weeks. Earlier TOI had reported that Huawei could be the first smartphone company in India to launch a 4G phone. 

"LTE is the future of mobile communications, and faster data access experience will become a key area of differentiation for consumers when choosing their mobile devices," said Cai Liqun, CEO of Huawei India. "The availability of the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is just one more way in which we are putting great technology into the hands of more people globally and now in India."

Avneesh Agrawal, president of Qualcomm India, added, "With this new device consumers in India will have the choice of enjoying high-speed mobile broadband experience using an LTE smartphone."

BlackBerry 10 smartphones pics leaked online

The images of Research In Motion's (RIM) upcoming smartphones, which will launch next year, have reportedly been revealed online. 

The pictures showed both the full touchscreen devices BlackBerry L Series and N series. 

They also showed a long-awaited BlackBerry 10 phone with a full qwerty keyboard, the Telegraph reports. 

According to the paper, briefly posted on video sharing site Vimeo, the film appears to be an internal pitch for marketing agencies, and was apparently posted by the editor.

Huawei plans to launch Windows 8 smartphones

China's Huawei Technologies, the world's second-largest telecom equipment maker and No.6 handset maker, expects revenue from its consumer devices unit to grow by about 30 per cent next year from the $9 billion forecast for this year.

Huawei also plans to launch smartphones using Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system later this year or early next year, Wan Biao, CEO of Huawei Device, said in an interview on Monday at the company's headquarters in the southern city of Shenzhen.

"We're still in the mode of investing actively for the next 1-2 years, so it will be a big challenge to achieve high profitability," Wan said. "We expect our consumer devices division's revenues to increase by 30 per cent next year, with smartphones growing at least 40 per cent."

New ultrathin lens to make mobile phones as thin as credit cards

WASHINGTON: Scientists are developing a new ultrathin lens which could lead to smart phones as thin as a credit card. 

The new lens is flat, distortion-free and so small that more than 1,500 would fit across the width of a human hair - capable in the future of replacing lenses in applications ranging from cell phones to cameras to fiber-optic communication systems. 

In a study published in journal Nano Letters, Federico Capasso and colleagues explained that the lenses used to focus light in eyeglasses, microscopes and other products use the same basic technology dating to the late 1200s, when spectacle lenses were introduced in Europe. 

Existing lenses are not thin or flat enough to remove distortions, such as spherical aberration, astigmatism and coma, which prevent the creation of a sharp image.

Nokia Lumia Zeal, the HD Zune-Like Prototype

For those of you still dreaming about a Zune Phone, Carlo Di Vaio from Italy imagined a Nokia phone that matches this description. I’m talking about the Nokia Lumia Zeal, that’s supposed to take some elements from Zune players and turn them into a phone. This is a LTE device with a microSIM card slot and a very serious looking metallic case.

It has a Snapdragon S4 Pro dual core 1.7 GHz processor (although I knew that the Pro is a quad core one), with Adreno 320 GPU, 16 GB of NAND Flash storage and up to 48 GB more via microSD card. Nokia Lumia Zeal brings 1 GB of RAM, a 3.7 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The screen is a ClearBlack one with PureMotion HD technology on board. It has an 8 megapixel camera at the back with PureView technology and Xenon flash, while the secondary camera is a 2 megapixel unit.

Motorola Droid RAZR M review

Last week, Motorola held a big event to unveil the “new Motorola,” a supposed relaunch of the company after its acquisition by Google. That event didn’t do much to show us what the new Motorola is really about, but we did get a look at the latest smartphones from the manufacturer, including the new Droid RAZR M for Verizon Wireless. Motorola and Verizon positioned the RAZR M as a mid-range smartphone, but it’s more of a spiritual successor to last year’s high-end Droid RAZR. The M comes equipped with improved hardware, a speedier processor, and a low starting price of just $99.99 on-contract.

It’s hard to see Motorola’s supposed new vision in the RAZR M, as it is really just a refined version of last year’s flagship smartphone from the company. But the original RAZR did have its merits, and if Motorola was able to address some of its faults (namely with the display and battery life) in the RAZR M, we could have a solid device on our hands — with an attractive price to boot. Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD

The ultra-thin Motorola Droid Razr and the long-lasting Droid Razr Maxx were hit phones for Verizon wireless, so it makes sense that Motorola Mobility would want to quickly follow up.
Enter the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD, which both feature better specifications, a bigger, crisper display, and of course, better battery life. The phones, announced today at an event in New York, mark the first products unveiled by Motorola under parent Google, which acquired the company last May.




Design and screen
Unsurprisingly, the Razr HD takes its design cues from its predecessor. Like the original Droid Razr, this phone has a thin profile, features a Kevlar backing, and is nice to hold. But rather than the more angular design of the original, which featured a slight bump at the top of the phone, the Razr HD is flatter and consistently round. As a result, the Razr HD looks even thinner than before. The Maxx HD looks fairly similar, and is just a hair thicker to accommodate its larger battery.



There's no question here, the Droid Razr HD's display is a big deal. Motorola is following the trend of the other handset manufacturers and going bigger with its display. The Razr HD features a 4.7-inch high definition-quality screen, compared with the 4.3-inch screen of the original. With a resolution of 1,280x768 pixels, this handset is HD all the way.

Motorola boasts that it has been able to fit its 4.7-inch display into a body that's smaller than that of the Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC One X, a boon to anyone who hates carrying large phones in their pocket. Both the Razr HD and Maxx HD offer the same display.

Both phones will run on Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, but will be upgraded to 4.1, or Jelly Bean, by the end of the year. They will also run on Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE network.

‘Lenovo to launch smartphones in India‘

         

The world's second-largest computer makerLenovo is all set to launch smartphones in India. According to a report in Bloomberg Business Week, the company "will bring smartphones to India, the Philippines and Indonesia to gain more heft and experience before entering developed markets such as the US."

Lenovo entered the smartphone segment in China around two years ago. According to recent IDC data, domestic vendor Lenovo has knocked off Apple from its second place in China, the world's largest mobile market.

Lenovo, which makes the LePhone, took 11 percent market share in China in the second quarter, up from a single-digit percentage in the first quarter when it was ranked 7th, the data showed.Samsung Electronics retained its lead in the Chinese smartphone market with a share of around 16 percent, little changed from the first quarter. Apple ranked 4th.

Global handset vendors, such as Samsung and Nokia, have been chasing increased market share in China, where there are more than 1 billion mobile subscribers. China is set to overtake the United States as the world's largest smartphone market this year.
