HTC has added a new member to its Desire series, the HTC Desire X, at the IFA in Berlin, and revealed a release window for the device. The smartphone is labeled affordable and features Beats Audio for enhanced music-listening sessions and a ‘state of the art’ camera to cater to photography needs.
Its 5MP camera with auto focus, LED flash and a BSI sensor to enhance low-light images allows WVGA recording. Like the One X, this phone features a dedicated chip just for imaging, and this allows users to shoot videos and capture still at the same time. Additionally, continuous capture is made possible at the rate of about 5 shots every 2 seconds with the one-press continuous shooting option.
In terms of running speeds, the HTC Desire X has a dual core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. It comes with Ice Cream Sandwich and a version of HTC Sense called 4.0a. Its 4-inch screen should be sufficient for most any task and serves up a resolution of 800 x 480. And add to that, it features a 1650mAh Li-ion battery offering up to 1200 minutes of talk time when on GSM.
“HTC Desire X is an extension of your social life,” says Jason Mackenzie, President, Global Sales and Marketing for HTC Corporation. “If you’re looking to enjoy and share high quality multimedia, wherever you are, this is the phone for you. It not only looks and sounds great, but also provides a super-fast, highly personal mobile experience at a great price.”

4GB of internal storage can be expanded via a microSD card and is backed up by 768MB of RAM. The device supports a wide variety of audio and video formats, although it only records sound in .amr, and brings along connectivity options that include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and DLNA to wirelessly stream media to a TV or computer.
The HTC Desire X release date has been scheduled for September. It will be made available to select markets across Asia Pacific and EMEA.
